6:30 AM – Pick-Up from Your Hotel in Cusco or Sacred Valley
We begin the day with an early pick-up from your hotel. As we drive toward the Sacred Valley, enjoy the scenic landscapes of Andean villages and agricultural terraces.
8:30 AM – Arrival at Socma Village
We arrive at the traditional community of Socma, the starting point of our hike. You’ll receive a light snack and a briefing from your guide about the route, cultural highlights, and safety tips.
9:00 AM – Begin the Hike to Perolniyoc Waterfall
We begin our gentle ascent along a picturesque trail surrounded by native flora and mountain views. Along the way, your guide will share stories and information about the local culture and nature.
10:00 AM – Arrival at Perolniyoc Waterfall
Reach the impressive Perolniyoc Waterfall, a stunning 48-meter cascade nestled in a tranquil setting. Here, we’ll perform a brief ceremony to honor the spirit of water. You’ll have free time to relax, meditate, take photos, or simply enjoy the peaceful environment.
11:00 AM – Hike from the Waterfall to Raqaypata Inca Site
After exploring the waterfall, we continue the hike uphill for about one hour to reach the archaeological site of Raqaypata, where your guide will explain the history and significance of the Inca structures, terraces, and ceremonial areas.
12:30 PM – Lunch at the Raqaypata Lookout or Socma Village
Enjoy a delicious box lunch prepared by one of the top restaurants in Ollantaytambo (Mijunapap, Veronica, or Ollantaytambo Restaurant). Meals are available for all dietary needs including vegetarian, vegan, and gluten-free options.
2:00 PM – Return Hike to Socma Village
We descend back to Socma Village, taking in the valley views and Andean surroundings. This part of the hike allows time to reflect on the cultural richness of the Sacred Valley.
3:00 PM – Visit to Ñaupa Iglesia (Portal of Light Temple)
We drive a short distance to the mystical Ñaupa Iglesia, a sacred Inca site carved into a rock cave. Your local guide will explain the spiritual significance and the advanced stone-carving techniques used by the Incas.
4:00 PM – Optional Visit to Cervecería del Valle
If you wish, we will make a stop at the renowned Cervecería del Valle, considered one of the best craft breweries in Peru. You’ll have the chance to taste local beers and relax before heading back.
6:00 PM – Return to Your Hotel in Cusco or Sacred Valley
We end the day by returning you safely to your hotel between 6:00 PM and 7:00 PM, depending on traffic and group pace.
What to Bring
- Comfortable Hiking Boots: Ensure you have sturdy footwear for the hike. Bring another pair of shoes for the car ride specially during the wet season.
- Warm Layers: The weather can be cold, especially in the morning, so dress in layers.
- Sun Protection: Sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat are essential for protection from the
high-altitude sun. - Water and Snacks: Carry water and any personal snacks to keep you energized.
Ensure to bring cash with you in case of evacuation or emergencies.
