Ausangate and seven lake Hike – 01 day

The Seven Lakes Trek on the eastern face of the Ausangate Glacier is a stunning high-altitude hike that offers breathtaking views of the Peruvian Andes, while also providing a deep connection to the spiritual heart of the region. Recognized by international travel organizations as one of the most beautiful hikes in the Andes, this one-day adventure is the shortest version of the classic Ausangate Trek and perfect for those seeking natural beauty and cultural immersion in a single day.

The trail leads you to seven sacred lakes that surround the Ausangate Mountain. These lakes are highly revered in Andean culture and display a variety of striking colors, from deep turquoise to emerald green, each reflecting the towering glacier peaks nearby. Among the most notable are Otorongo Lake, known for its spiritual significance; Puka Cocha, whose red hue comes from natural minerals; and Azul Cocha, a vivid turquoise lake that offers perfect photo opportunities.

Rising to 6,384 meters (20,945 feet), Ausangate Mountain itself serves as the dramatic backdrop to this trek. It is one of the highest and most sacred peaks in Peru, holding great cultural and spiritual importance for the Quechua people. The route is also rich in Andean wildlife such as llamas, alpacas, vicuñas, and a variety of high-altitude bird species including Andean condors and flickers. The surrounding flora includes high-altitude grasses and native polylepis (queuña) trees, making the landscape both diverse and visually stunning.

This trek is also a photographer’s dream, with endless opportunities to capture snow-capped peaks, colorful lakes, and untouched mountain terrain. But beyond the scenery, this hike offers a chance to connect with the spiritual energy of the Andes and the sacred geography of Ausangate.

Join us and experience the mystical beauty of the Seven Lakes of Ausangate in just one incredible day.
